An anonymous ghostwriter will finish the series, possibly making it more like the TV series, according to the only statement Alloy Entertainment Inc. (who owns half the copyright) has made to the public, in the Hollywood Reporter. Lisa retained the name Eternity and is writing a book called Eternity: A Vampire Love Story.

The series follows the life of Elena Gilbert (Nina Dobrev), who falls for a 160-year-old vampire named Stefan Salvatore (Paul Wesley). Their lives grow more and more complicated as Stefan's vicious and malevolent elder brother Damon (Ian Somerhalder) returns to the town of Mystic Falls with a plan to wreak havoc on the town and also to plan a vendetta against his younger brother. Both brothers begin to show affection towards Elena, mainly because of her resemblance to their past love Katherine. It is revealed that Elena is Katherine's doppelganger, who eventually returns with plans against the trio.
The series is set in the fictional town of Mystic Falls, Virginia, a town charged with supernatural history since its settlement of migrants from New England in the late 17th century. Other story lines revolve around the other inhabitants of the town, most notably Elena's younger brother Jeremy (Steven R. McQueen), Elena's best friend Bonnie (Katerina Graham), Elena's close friend, Caroline (Candice Accola), Elena's childhood friend, Tyler (Michael Trevino), and Elena's childhood friend and ex-boyfriend, Matt (Zach Roerig). The town's politics are orchestrated by descendants of the original founding families, all comprising a "Founders' Council". Some of the founding families of Mystic Falls include the Salvatores, the Gilberts, the Fells, the Forbes and the Lockwoods. They guard the town mainly from vampires although they seem to be oblivious on other supernatural threats, but creatures such as werewolves and witches are themselves members of the Founders' Council.

Witchlight

Raksha Keller and her team race to a mall to save the new Wild Power, Iliana Harman. The new Wild Power is destined to marry Galen Drache a shapeshifter of the first house, so the shapeshifters will side with the witches and not the vampires. Daughters of Darkness

Vampire sisters Rowan, Kestrel, and Jade Redfern escape from their homeland on an island in the Night World to live with their Aunt Opal on Burdock Farm. Things take a turn for the worse when the girls discover their aunt has been killed and their ruthless brother Ash has followed them, to bring them home or kill them. Meanwhile, the sisters and Ash meet the Carters next door, and Ash, who hates humans, discovers that Mary-Lynette Carter, a human, is his Soulmate.

Spellbinder

Thea and Blaise Harman are witches and are like sisters. There's only one slight difference: Thea uses white magic and Blaise uses black magic. Blaise uses her charm and magic to make boys do anything for her, including cutting themselves with razors and burning down schools. When they start over at a new school and Thea heals Eric Ross from a snake bite, Thea and Eric realize they are Soulmates. Blaise is jealous that Eric has chosen Thea, and worried that Thea is breaking Night World law to be with Eric. In a desperate attempt to protect Eric from Blaise, Thea accidentally releases an angry spirit, and all hell breaks loose while she tries to find her soulmate.

The Awakening : My first Vampire Diaries book. Written for HarperCollins. Urban horror/romance. A bestseller, both in 1991, when it was first published, and now, when it has been reissued, both as an omnibus packaged with Volume 2: The Struggle. (It has the first half face of the dark-haired boy on the cover.) Also out in individual volumes saying "Now a TV series on the CW" with pictures of the TV characters--including the brunette Elena.

The Struggle : The second volume in the series. Another bestseller, both in 1991 and now. Packaged with The Awakening, and I think available as an individual book saying "Now a TV series on the CW." But it's best to ask a bookstore about how it is available at this point.
